Analysts and Professionals

The Analysts and Professionals are mainly responsible for constructing, enhancing and maintaining several databases on R&D, research funding, patents and publications. They also develop database interfaces and help produce scientific articles and reports.

Vincent Larivière

Vincent Larivière holds a bachelor’s in Science, Technology and Society (2002) and a master’s degree in history of science (2005) from UQAM and is currently a research officer at the OST. He is also working towards the completion of a Ph.D. degree in information science at McGill University. Involved in the activities of the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies since 1999, he follows closely the theoretical and practical aspects of scientometrics. He is co-author of many publications and reports in this field. Sholarship-holder from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the  Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST) and the European University Institute, he teaches to students in the UQAM programs in Science, Technology and Society since 2003.

Pascal Lemelin

Involved with the OST since 2002 and a biology graduate from Université Laval, Pascal Lemelin coordinates the normalization and codification of the Observatoire's data. He takes part in the production of statistical studies to meet various demands and collaborates in OST’s publications.

Benoit Macaluso

Benoit Macaluso is a bachelor in Science, Technology and Society from UQAM (2002). He worked at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique – Urbanisation culture et société (INRS-UCS) between 2000 and 2005, where he took part in the production and analysis of bibliometric and technometric data. As a contractual analyst, he also contributed to various works on R&D statistics at UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS). Benoit produces and analyses statistical data on scientific publications and innovation.

Jean-Pierre Robitaille

After the completion of his Master's degree in History of Medicine at UQAM, Jean-Pierre Robitaille worked at the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST) from 1995 to 1999, where he was editor, among other things, of the Bulletin de l'enseignement supérieur. From 1999 to 2002, as an analyst for the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies, he took part in the production of numerous reports. From 2002 to 2004, he produced several research studies for Quebec's Conseil de la science et de la technologie. He currently acts as the Observatoire's coordinator.

Mario Rouette

Mario Rouette, who holds a bachelor's in administrative data processing from UQAM (2002), has joined the OST team in 2004. An active member of the CFI project, he works on information development, on the implementation of software standards and quality assurances, as well as on a portion of the technological environment analysis. He is, in particular, a specialist of the modelization and extraction of data patterns via XML.

Ancient Analysts and Professionals

Pawel Dziob

Pawel Dziob, a UQAM graduate in computer science and software engineering, joins the OST within the framework of the Consortium sur l'innovation et le bien-être dans l'économie du savoir (CIBL’es). He contributes to the setup of the information infrastructure and will offer user-level technical support.

 

Philippe Gendron

Philippe Gendron holds a bachelor’s in Science, Technology and Society from UQAM (2003) and has been with the OST since 2001. He provides technical support and produces statistical data on scientific publications and innovation.

Jocelyne Raymond

After working twenty years as a manager in the private sector, Jocelyne Raymond joined the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies in January 2001. In addition to data entry, her work involves the data normalization of addresses and affiliations of Canadian authors. She also assists the director of the OST in his administrative tasks.

François Vallières

Trained in computer science, with a bachelor’s in Science, Technology and Society from UQAM (1994), François Vallières has been with the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies since its inception. In addition to the OST’s databases, he was responsible for developing the NSERC and SSHRC awards search engines. He is an expert in computer tools for making the best use of databases. Mr. Vallières has taken part in many scientometric and bibliometric studies and is the co-author of several research articles and reports. Since 2006, he is computer analyst for the Consortium sur l’innovation, les performances et le bien-être dans l’économie du savoir (CIBL’es), but remains a collaborator of the OST.


CIRST
