This research note examines the evolution of NSERC’s funding over the 1991-2004 period. The importance of both research grants and scholarships is specifically analysed, as well as their evolution over the 14 year period. The last section is devoted to an analysis of the proportion of NSERC’s funding with respect to federal government’s total investment in the Higher Education Expenditure on Research and Development (HERD).
